Impressive Adélie Penguin Sculpture Made of Recycled Trash Stands Tall at Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival
Hi everyone!
Disneynature’s Penguins will be in theaters on April 17th, 2019 and Disney is celebrating the film at the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival with an incredible work of art. Created by the non-profit WashedAshore.org out of recycled marine trash, the 9-foot tall Adélie penguin sculpture of an adult and baby is so impressive (and even includes some hidden Mickeys). It is beautiful AND educational. We have photos and video to share.
Follow Mousesteps on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube! We recommend booking with MEI/Mousefan Travel.
Here is one of the signs telling about the sculpture, informing how everything used was improperly discarded and encourages action to protect the oceans.
Our video gives a nice overview of the sculpture.
Here is a wider look at the sculpture. It is hard to share in photos how large it is. You can find it not too far from The Land pavilion in Future World.
As you move closer, it becomes easier to see the trash that comes together to create two penguins.
Here are up-close photos of the face of the baby penguin.
WashedAshore.org creates works of art elsewhere, we’ve seen them before. These pieces of art are designed to inspire people to keep oceans free of plastics.
Here are a few more angles of the sculpture.
And one of the hidden Mickeys found in it.

Here, you can see a golf ball, hidden Mickey and various other items.

There is even the bottom of a shoe here.
A sign from the Disney Conservation Fund talks about how to help reduce amount of plastics used.
Disneynature’s upcoming film Penguins will open on April 17th, 2019 – just before Earth Day.
Here is a look at the back of the sculpture.
Trash forms the tail.
It also forms the feet, and the rest of the penguins.
A monorail passes by.
Purchase tickets to the movie Penguins during opening week and Disneynature will make a donation to the Wildlife Conservation Network to help protect penguins around the world. Visit Nature.Disney.com/Penguins for more information on these penguins.
If you make it out to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, I recommend visiting these special penguins!
