6/28 Despicable Me Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios Orlando – Review, Photos and Video
Universal Studios Orlando has been on a roll over the last few months as part of it's "Year to Be Here". From the upgrade of The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman to the additions of Universal's Cinematic Spectacular and Universal's Superstar Parade, 2012 is a great time to visit Universal Studios! On the heels of all this is an attraction based on one of my favorite animated films of the last decade, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem.
As of this writing, it's just a few days away from the Grand Opening of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, and we will be there to cover it! But in the meantime, I wanted to share some thoughts, photos and videos (including a video interview with Universal Creative Executive Producer, Mike West). I have actually talked with some friends who haven't seen Despicable Me yet – and I think it's an integral part of viewing the attraction. I already am a huge fan of the Minions, and of the story itself. Guests can enjoy it either way – but if you aren't seen Despicable Me, I highly recommend it!
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem has been in technical rehearsals for weeks, as the attraction is tweaked for the Grand Opening. Today was the first day we rode it. The facade of the building is fantastic, it's Gru's house (as is the inside) – and you can find Minions all over it!
Universal Creative Executive Producer, Mike West speaks with us in front of the attraction. We have a full interview video that includes clips of the exterior, queue and dance party! Jeff did a great job with shooting and editing.
A handful of the photos in the article are provided by Universal Studios. I haven't yet seen Minions in front of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (I expect that on Monday), but here they are, both photos from Universal Studios:
We were taken in through the quick way, so we didn't get the full queue experience. That will change in the near future, but the photos I did get follow. We also have a video that include the pre-show!
