Disney’s Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel Celebrates 17th Year With Disney Character Inspired Horses!

Hi everyone!

Disney’s Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel is celebrating its 17th year, and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Bakery team really outdid itself this year in probably my favorite theme ever for the carousel – the horses are inspired by Disney characters! There is a high level of detail to be found. During the last two or three years, the display was scaled back some so it was nice to see a ton of creativity brought into it again. The horses always have different names, but this year they are all Disney character names and designs.

Honestly, sometimes you hear the words “surprise and delight” associated with different aspects of the Disney parks experience, and that is how I felt walking in and seeing this year’s carousel.

Once inside, I was so impressed this year by what I saw. And the longer I looked, the more impressed I was.

The gingerbread carousel is presented not only by Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Bakery, but the Engineering Team as well. The display includes:

324 pounds of honey, 96 pounds of bread flour, 1000 whole eggs, 10 pounds of spices, 10 quarts of simple syrup, 150 pounds of icing, 50 pounds of dark chocolate, 50 pounds of modeling chocolate, 200 gum paste flowers, and 2016 pieces of gingerbread! Plus, “lots of enthusiasm, energy and talent”. Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Mickey and Pluto are also part of the sign.

Here is our video of the carousel, and then check out all the photos below for close-up details!

The first horse we are looking at is named Pluto, with reindeer horns.

His tag says “If found, please return to Mickey”.

He’s part horse, part reindeer and part Pluto the dog with that tongue hanging out of his mouth!

Pluto’s dog print is on the left, and a Mickey on the right.

Another Mickey is here as well.

Check out this dogbone!

Next up is Mickey.

There are presents for Minnie, Goofy and Donald here. Each gift is color coordinated with the other characters.

Mickey ornaments are on the saddle.

And it’s like Pixie Dust here, with one of the hidden Mickeys too.

Mickey Mouse.

Below each horse is the character in theme with the horse. Mickey here is ringing a bell, and he has the same type of gifts below as he has in horse form. He also wears a Santa hat and costume, just as the horse does.

The next horse is Minnie, and you can already see the dots and shoes!

Minnie wears ears.

The horses all have lifelike eyes, which is new.

Minnie Mouse is her name here, and there is a Minnie gingerbread cookie as part of her design.

She has Minnie dots everywhere!

There is a gingerbread cookie recipe – and two of the 17 hidden Mickey’s below it and to the side.

Minnie’s trademark shoes.

Below the horse, Minnie Mouse is sculpted.

Next is Goofy.

Goofy’s name and Christmas bulbs are part of his design. He also wears a green scarf.

Goofy’s hat sits atop his head.

Below the horse, Goofy is wrapped up in Christmas lights!

Donald Duck is the last character themed horse and has more of a snowflake theme.

Donald’s hat rests on his head. He has the classic yellow buttons and a red scarf.

Here he is from the back. The manes and tails on these horses are gorgeously done.

Donald is sculpted below.

The topper this year is Pluto, sculpted similarly to the larger horse.

There is at least one Mickey head in icing.

This is a thank-you for visiting with Christmas bulbs like the Goofy horse has.

It also says holiday goodies are available for purchase at Disney’s Beach Club Marketplace.

This is all I found in the Beach Club Marketplace. If you are looking for a wide gingerbread assortment, head to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Definitely check out Disney’s Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel if you have a chance this year!
