Disney’s Polynesian Resort Construction Update, August 2014 Including DVC Bungalows

We have another big update showing construction around Disney’s Polynesian Resort. Each time we visit, so much has changed! While so much is closed right now, parts of it will open soon, including Captain Cook’s and Pineapple Lanai.

This first is a look on the walk from the Ticket and Transportation Center. The route changed weeks ago, at least for now.

There are signs around the resort to let guests know which way to go. It helps!

Work is going on in several longhouses.

This small pool bar was not open in the afternoon at the quiet pool (which was very quiet yesterday).

There is a small amount of specialty drinks, along with beer and wine when open.

Guests of Disney’s Polynesian Resort can go to Typhoon Lagoon in place of the quiet pool while the Nanea Volcano Pool is being refurbished.

There is a scrim that spans between the Hawaii building and the beach. There is some beach left for guests during construction.

The scrim along the Nanea Pool fence was blowing in the wind.

From what we understand, the main change here will be a shorter volcano.

The bungalows are really coming along and look nice.

We like the Polynesian design being added to the bungalows. Here is a look at some of the units. The one to the left has always been the most advanced in construction.

Walking toward the Great Ceremonial House.

Outside, there is transportation to Typhoon Lagoon (the sign has the former and future name of the resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort).

Construction is continuing out front.

We enjoy seeing the waterfall at the right hand side of the entrance to the resort. It is one of the few things currently unchanged.

This sign should be replaced very soon. It still includes the Neverland Club and Barefoot Pool Bar.

Pineapple Lanai is being built here, which will serve Dole Whips. From what we understand, Captain Cook’s will be re-opening very soon.

Kona Island is currently closed.

Pineapple Lanai is already on the map, though not much else is right now.

We were taking a boat to the Magic Kingdom, and this is the view walking past the marina.

The beach area is not fenced off from this side.
