Review: Dine with Jedi Mickey, Darth Goofy and More at Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

We spent tonight (May the 4th) at Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! The reviews on the Star Wars Dine-In Galactic Breakfast at the Sci-Fi Drive-In were not always great, but we expected dinner to be an easier experience. Star Wars “May the 4th Be With You” was celebrated on the main stage.

We arrived for Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine on time, and the line looked much longer than it turned out to be – it took about 20 minutes for us to get into the Chip and Dale Ewok photo line.

Once in the Chip and Dale Ewok line, we had about a 5 minute wait to meet the characters. It took a while to receive the digital downloads, but we finally did! The last time we met Chip and Dale as Ewoks, it was at least a 90 minute wait. The one really great thing about this experience is that within the space of less than 90 minutes, guests can meet many characters that usually attract very long lines at Star Wars Weekends – all while dining on some pretty good food.

One thing that could be better is how many character attendants were around. The characters were mostly on their own today, and the attendants seemed spread too thin.

We received a souvenir PhotoPass card with Jedi Mickey on it.

We received two different photos of us, plus a few bonus pictures. There are three different borders to choose from. Here is one of the photos, with the three borders. Cast Members will also take photos with guest cameras.

On to the food and experience!

The buffet line never had a wait while we were there, and we started with some salad.

Peel-and-eat shrimp is included.

We love all the different names of food, including Luke’s Chipotle Citrus Barbecue Chicken Thighwalkers!

Other items on the buffet include Lando’s Lobster and Shrimp Macaroni and Cheese. Jeff likes lobster, and this always has nice chunks in it.

Honestly, I was so busy with the characters that I didn’t try all the food items I planned. The corn and garlic mashed potatoes were good, but I wish I had more of the carved turkey to go with them!

Cast Members working the food line were enthusiastic and kept everything clean and replenished.

We walked by the Star Wars desserts – wow! We had dined here for the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine, but the desserts there weren’t much to talk about.

We were told this cake isn’t real – but it looks fun with Jedi Mickey on top.

It wasn’t yet dessert time, this was our meal to start with!

Leia Minnie was our first character. We actually had visits with most of the characters twice. Stormtrooper Donald took the longest around the room, so we met him just once. We were told there would be a show every so often, but it wasn’t much of anything (the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine has a real show).

Jedi Mickey was next, and he signed a souvenir paper light saber.

Darth Goofy soon arrived in his boxer shorts with hearts.

Jeff enjoyed some lobster macaroni and cheese, along with salmon while we waited for more characters.

We started collecting desserts for photos (and to try).

Stormtrooper Donald took about an hour to get to us. It wasn’t long after that when Princess Leia Minnie made a return appearance.

Here is another plate of desserts, with the Yoda and Darth mini-cupcakes, along with items that represent the dark and light side. The blue and red sprinkle desserts are chocolate dipped strawberries.

While the desserts alone aren’t worth the price of admission, they certainly add a lot of fun to the meal!

We had one more visit with Jedi Mickey before we left.

Because of my wheelchair, I ended up not finding the turkey and carved beef (I made it everywhere else on the buffet, I think). The small piece of turkey I had was very good, and I didn’t try the beef.

Both Star Wars meals will be offered daily through June 15, 2014.

Jedi Mickey’s Star Wars Dine is $55.99 for adults and $33.99 for children. Taxes and gratuity are not included, and there are no discounts (we had originally been told there would be when we booked). I recommend the Fantasmic add-on, which then makes it $59.99 for adults and $36.99 for children. We did not experience that, but it is worth a few dollars for reserved seating. The price includes a digital photograph.

We spent around $130.00 for 2 adults, which is not inexpensive. I usually would not spend so much on a character meal. Was it worth it? For our story, yes. And we had a great time. The food was good, the character interaction was great, and for anyone wanting to meet characters, it saves a lot of time in line (compared with Star Wars Weekends). I figured that seeing the same characters at Star Wars Weekends could take up to 5 hours or more, especially since some of the characters switch out while guests are waiting.

We stopped to check out the Star Wars “May the Fourth” shirts. We only found the “Revenge of the Fifth” shirt.

We stopped by the Maleficent sneak preview area and asked about the souvenir horns. They had run out, but were able to find one in the back.
