Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2013 Brings Changes From New Logo to New Reindeer!
Hi everyone!
I just posted over 150 photos of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2013 and tips to make the most of this year’s Party experience. But I also wanted to share a few changes to the 2013 Party! Each year brings something new, I’ve been attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party since the mid-90’s and so many things have changed since then. We’ve been covering Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on Mousesteps since 2007!
The first difference we noticed was in the logo. A few days before the Party, we saw a billboard that included this new logo with Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. I really like the artwork!
This is the logo from last year, on a sign outside the Magic Kingdom in 2012.
And candy canes with a peppermint candy base now signify where Cast Members hand out complimentary holiday treats. Cookies, apple slices, hot chocolate and apple cider are included with the Party ticket.
For many years, Mickey’s hand with treats would signify where guests could find the goodies.
Mickey and Minnie’s costumes in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade are completely different. The new colors are red, white and green, and the costumes have a decidedly less formal look to them.
Previously, Mickey and Minnie wore these outfits that were overwhelmingly red in color. Minnie’s costume looked more like a Santa outfit, and Mickey was in a red jacket.
In our Mousesteps Weekly Episode #78, we talk all about Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! We detail some of the changes, but also give tips on what to see and when.
This year, Scrooge McDuck was not in either parade for the first Party. Donald and Daisy stood on the float that traditionally carries him.
In previous years, Donald and Daisy were in a horse-drawn carriage.
And here is Scrooge McDuck on the float in 2012.
We had so much interest in the new reindeer that I chose to write an article that included them. The reindeer have long been one of my favorite segments of the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, and this year the Disneyland version arrived here. I like both versions! And I don’t have a good photo, but the bears in the parade also look different than last year, though they were in their costumes from last year in the Celebrate the Season show (one of the bears reminds me of Mr. Pricklepants from Toy Story 3, but taller).
Here are the reindeer that we’ve had until this year. Which are your favorite?

Mickey and Minnie have traditionally greeted together in holiday costumes at the Magic Kingdom. We have met them in Mickey’s Toontown Fair before that closed, and in Town Square Theater since then. We were told that they would not be greeting together this year, and that Mickey will be in his regular outfit. We will be getting photos and video of them this Monday!

Every year, the cookies served seems to change a little. This year, the cookie seems more dense (there is also a gluten free cookie pack).
We picked up several different offerings for this photo last year – two types of standard cookies, a gluten-free offering and apple slices.
Throughout the Magic Kingdom, holiday projections have changed to reflect the new logo. We arrived yesterday before the welcome sign, and found it as we left the park at 1:00 a.m. (the Party ends at midnight, we stayed to take more photos on Main Street).
This is the sign that guests were welcomed with last year.
Our Mousesteps Weekly Show today will be about the Party, and I’ll embed that when it’s finished! Follow Mousesteps on Twitter and Facebook!
