Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House 2014 Grand Opening Includes Alice to Help Cut Ribbon
Hi everyone!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House held its Grand Opening this morning with a ribbon cutting that included – for the first time – Alice, assisting Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek in doing the honors. This is the 16th year for the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House! We also have an article on the final dusting from last week, with more photos of the house details.
Balloons were set up today around Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House.
Executive Pastry Chef Herbitschek will be signing pins on Saturday, November 22nd. The pin this year features Alice with the Gingerbread House.
The ribbon was ready.
A teacup decoration hangs in the window, alongside butterflies, Christmas trees and other ornaments.
This year’s price list includes about 30 items that are being sold here. A few treats are “Frozen” themed.
The ceremony was brief, we posted the video below – it lasted about 4 minutes.
Here is the video of the full ceremony, followed by more photos!
Some of the talented pastry team were on hand for the ribbon cutting.

It was really a nice addition to include Alice for the festivities.

Alice couldn’t stick around long, but she spoke with some children in the crowd.
We met her before she left.
And we were happy to have our photo taken again with Richard, who is a well-known greeter at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. We hadn’t seen him in a while, it was nice to see his smile today.
This is the Limited Edition pin with Alice on it.
Treats include “Frozen” pops and Mickey chocolate pops.
Elsa is on a shingle, and Olaf on a chocolate ornament. We purchased the Olaf one to keep for our tree (and we will buy another one eventually to eat). The Olaf ornament says “Seasons Greetings” and “Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa”.

Cast Members were busy filling orders. Guests can buy gingerbread houses, stollen bread and so many other items!
We had interviewed Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek about the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House for our Mousesteps Weekly YouTube Show (along with Pastry Chef Jeff Barnes about the “Frozen” Gingerbread Display at Disney’s Contemporary Resort).
