“Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” Show Delights at Disneyland Paris (Video)

Hi everyone!

Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” made its media debut and also debuted for Disneyland Paris Passholders this past weekend. We were invited to the media preview, and sent our friend Rony from DLPlicious to cover it for us. And thank you also to Characters Photos Blog for allowing us to use some of their photos (see more at their Instagram account and Twitter/X).

Last month, we learned quite a bit about the 30-minute show from a provided interview with show director Matteo Borghi and I will post a few of the highlights! First, here is a video of the entire show. And if you like the show, I do recommend checking out a variety of videos on YouTube to view various angles. There is SO much to see!

“Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” is a high-energy show pitting Alice against the Queen of Hearts with a pop and rock musical score. There is live music, acrobatics, dancing and BMX bikes as part of this show that can be seen starting May 25th, 2024 at Theater of the Stars in Walt Disney Studios Park.

Borghi spoke about how the show was conceived.

I worked in parallel with author Ludovic-Alexandre Vidal – who also helped create The Disney Junior Dream Factory show – on the story we wanted to tell. We started with an iconic moment from the film, the Mad Hatter’s tea party, and asked ourselves how we could follow it up. Watching the 1951 classic, we realized that the story didn’t really end. There’s the croquet game, followed by Alice’s trial, which ends abruptly when Alice wakes up. So, we came up with a new tea party for which the Mad Hatter invites all our guests, as well as two special guests: Alice and the Queen of Hearts, who come face-to-face once again. The Queen of Hearts is not happy, as she feels that she and she alone should be the guest of honor. A new face-off between Alice and the Queen follows, bringing the croquet game to a close and finally deciding which of the two will be celebrated. All this under the watchful eye of the Mad Hatter, who handles things, shall we say… his way!

In “Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland“, there is a lot of live music! There are six singers on stage – Alice and the Queen of Hearts, along with Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, the White Rabbit and March Hare. There are also four musicians. (two percussionists, a guitarist and a player of the keytar – a keyboard-guitar). Alice sings more of a pop style, and the Queen of Hearts sings a rock style.

The Cheshire Cat also makes appearances on the big screen. Borghi says, “just like a cat, that is, when he feels like it, and how he feels like it!”

Here is our Mousesteps Weekly #510, where we talk about the show.

“Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” is a terrific addition to Walt Disney Studios Park, which has been undergoing a major transformation and has so many construction walls running through it. There are quite a few great shows in the park, which also boasts “Mickey and the Magician“, “TOGETHER: a Pixar Musical Adventure” and “Disney Junior Dream Factory“.

“Alice & the Queen of Hearts: Back to Wonderland” runs through September 29th, 2024.
