Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

(Photos) Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cabin Being Removed by Truck as Resort Readies for DVC Cabins

Hi everyone!

We were near the Magic Kingdom today when we noticed two Fort Wilderness Cabins being hauled by trucks. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is exchanging these for Disney Vacation Club cabins that look very different. The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort (a Disney Vacation Club Resort) is projected to open on July 1st, 2024.

We were stopped on the road when Jeff noticed the two drive by (we only have photos of one). This is cabin #2520, which I believe was near the quiet pool at the Peacock Pass loop. And I updated the article with two photos from a friend of a cabin on SR 528.

Here is a concept art of what The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will look like. Each cabin sleeps up to 6 guests and some can accommodate dogs.

Disney says about the new Disney Vacation Club cabins, “Through the sconce-flanked front doors is a spacious living area featuring a dining nook and a fully equipped kitchen—including a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and full-size oven/range. Off the kitchen you’ll find a vanity area outside the entrance to the bathroom, which has a shower and an additional vanity inside. A convertible seating and sleeping area is located opposite the kitchen and boasts a 65-inch TV and a comfortable sofa—the perfect spot to gather your family to watch a favorite Disney movie. At bedtime, simply fold down the queen-size Inova bed from the wall, for added sleeping space. In the separate bedroom, you’ll find a queen-size bed, twin-size bunk beds, a 55-inch TV, a closet and a nightstand.”

Here are a few more photos of the older cabin being taken away.

I am also updating the article with a couple photos from our friend Robert Bearden of a cabin on SR 528.

What do you think about the upcoming Disney Vacation Club addition to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground? This is one of our favorite resorts and I do look forward to seeing inside the new cabins.

  • We’re looking forward to seeing the new cabins and, hopefully, staying in one sometime next year. We’re DVC members and the points needed for stays seem very reasonable. We camp at FW a lot and it would be nice to just bring our golf cart and stay in a cabin instead of bringing the RV (lots of work!).

    • Hi Leon and Darlene! Thank you very much for the comment. I hope you do get to stay in one of the new cabins next year! It does seem much easier than bringing the RV. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a special place and I hope the DVC cabins are not only very nice, but practical as well.
