Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

11/18/2010 Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando Grand Opening (Near Orlando Convention Center)

Hi everyone!

While Mousesteps will still be primarily Disney related, we are ramping up to offer more offsite coverage as well for my readers who enjoy staying at and visiting offsite hotels and attractions.  I'll be adding coverage from Fantasy of Flight and Gaylord Palms ICE! this weekend.

For now, I'm adding this new coverage into my parks/resorts update until I have some new categories added (which hopefully will be soon, it's a very busy time of year!)

We were invited to attend the Grand opening of the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando.  We changed one of our IAPPA convention coverage days to Tuesday so we could cover both events. The Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando is very conveniently located to the Orlando Convention Center and attractions such as Sea World, Discovery Cove and Universal Studios, and is not more than a 15-20 minute drive from Walt Disney World.

Derek Baum, General Manager of the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando (as well as Director of Operations of Rosen Hotels & Resorts) spoke a little about the newest hotel in the Rosen collection.  This hotel used to be a Quality Inn, and fits comfortably into the moderately-priced hotel category. Rosen Hotels & Resorts has over 6300 hotel rooms in 7 hotels in the Orlando area!

The event was called a block party, and included food from some of the wonderful restaurants at Pointe Orlando. Taverna Opa even provided a belly dancer for entertainment:

Harris Rosen, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Rosen Hotels & Resorts was called to join in:

We were brought to see one of the rooms.  Almost every room has two double beds, though there are 20 king bedded rooms as well.  There is a small refrigerator and microwave in the room (which is a nice bonus!), free wireless internet, a flat screen TV, a sliding door that allows for privacy in the bathroom area, and we were told that the beds were so comfortable that guests have called to purchase them. There are also three pools, two of which are heated seasonally.
