Vintage Video: Nichelle Nichols (Star Trek) in Disney-MGM Studios 1992 ‘Star of the Day’ Motorcade & Handprint Ceremony
Hi everyone!
Jeff has put up another vintage Walt Disney World video!
Nichelle Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura in “Star Trek” participated in the Disney-MGM Studios ‘Star of the Day’ motorcade & handprint ceremony in 1992. This was something that happened a couple of times per week or so with celebrities from 1989 through the early 1990s. In the video, Nichols rides in the motorcade with Mickey Mouse before the handprint ceremony.
The ‘Star of the Day’ cavalcade also included a band along with Chip, Dale and Pluto in their themed outfits and Eeyore as they head to the Chinese Theater (a replica of the original Grauman’s Chinese Theater) for the handprint ceremony.
Here is the video of Nichelle Nichols in the ‘Star of the Day’ motorcade and handprint ceremony!
‘Star of the Day’ was also known as ‘Star Today’.

Jeff has been going through his vast collection of vintage video and photos to share. I remember the ‘Star of the Day’ events, it was really fun to see celebrities in the park.
We will be back next week with another vintage Walt Disney World video!
