Donald’s Dino Boat Bash! Allows Guests to Enjoy Characters from a Distance (Photos, Video)

 Hi everyone!

As part of the new character experiences around the parks at Walt Disney World, Donald’s Dino Bash has moved from land to water in the form of characters – including Chip & Dale dressed in their dinosaur costumes – on pontoon boats. Just like any other character experience right now, it isn’t up close and personal, it is safely distanced and allows more guests to enjoy them as well. I also love that boats are back on the Discovery River, which has been pretty underutilized for much of its existence. 20 years ago, guests could ride on a boat down the river. There are a number of character and entertainment boats at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, two of them are Donald’s Dino-Bash branded.

We have been to all four parks now since they reopened. Disney’s Animal Kingdom actually felt like the busiest day to me, a little brisker than I expected for a weekday. The parks are allowing for a much lower capacity than normal though and “busy” is relative to what we’ve experienced.

The nice thing about the distanced entertainment is that there are a lot of areas to watch it from. Here, Donald, Daisy and Launchpad McQuack are on a pontoon boat.

Here is our video of Donald’s Dino Boat Bash.

Daisy waves. Donald’s Dino-Bash has been a very popular and fun meet and greet area in Dinoland for the two years it has been around.

The Tree of Life makes a lovely backdrop for the characters.

This particular location is small and has wonderful views of the Tree of Life.

Chip and Dale as dinosaurs have become such a popular addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Goofy is with them as well.

We later were near Expedition Everest and could see the boat from the bridge.

Visiting the Walt Disney World parks is very different right now due to the pandemic. A lot has been modified to keep guests safe, including no meet and greets, fireworks or parade. There are also fewer entertainment options currently. On the flip side, the parks are a lot less busy, often very empty and it has been nice to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere mostly outside.
