Book Review: Disney’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” Book with CD (for Kids)
Hi everyone!
I received Disney’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Book & CD to review – a small, softcover book with CD that includes narration and sound effects. I always say that I really enjoy these little books with CD, they are terrific for young children just learning to read and the price point is great. I also am a fan of the story of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. This particular book with CD does not include the original voices from the film, but is narrated (very well) by voice actor Chris Edgerly.
As is usually the case, the book is 32 pages long and the CD runs about 15 minutes. The suggested age range for it is 3-6 years old, though I consider that a little young for the subject matter – the classic story featuring Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones and Katrina Van Tassel. I would personally suggest ages 6-8 or so. And unlike the movie, there isn’t so much comic relief nor are there songs. But it is a fantastic story for the Halloween season, just for a little older than I normally recommend for the book and CD combination. This is the 70th anniversary of The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad, so definitely check out the actual Blu-ray as well. It has a little more levity. If kids enjoy the movie, they should enjoy the book as well.
