“Tale of the Lion King” Show to Debut at Disney California Adventure June 7th, 2019 for Limited Time Run (Video)

Earlier this year, Disney had announced that they would be celebrating The Lion King this summer with an event at Disney California Adventure. Now, they’ve shared information about a show that will be taking place at the Palisades Stage beginning June 7th, 2019 for a limited time, Tale of the Lion King. Disney says on the Disney Parks Blog that the show will be “highly theatrical”, presented outdoors and will include 18 performers consisting of actors, singers, dancers and drummers in an ensemble called the Storytellers of the Pride Lands. Disney says about the Storytellers of the Pride Lands, This traveling troupe specializes in retelling revered stories in their own contemporary style, weaving their tale through language, song and dance.

New musical arrangements have been written for most of the songs from The Lion King. Creative Director Susana Tubert talks about the show here, and says it is a brand new adaption – there is also a look at rehearsals on this new show. I look forward to seeing Tale of the Lion King in June.
