Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Mardi Gras Parade 2018 Includes Turkey Leg, Dole Whip Carts with Theme “Sweets & Treats”

Hi everyone!

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort holds a Mardi Gras Pargo Parade each year, and 2018 was no exception! We attend each year, this is our seventh in a row and the theme each year is different. For 2018, the theme was “Sweets & Treats” – all about food. The pargo (golf) carts were decorated in a variety of different food items, like a turkey leg and Dole Whip. I wasn’t sure if we’d see anything “rose gold” as that is the big trend of the past couple of months, but I didn’t notice anything. Here is a look in photos and video of the parade!

The Mardi Gras Pargo Parade is held at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter resorts. It starts at Riverside and then ends at the French Quarter.

This area is one of my favorite views for the parade, with the boats in the background. I also took some photos from above the parade in a different location.

It doesn’t look busy just from this photo, but I have never seen so many guests waiting to see the parade.

Cast Members design the carts and also are in the parade.

Some of the carts are Mardi Gras themed – and Cast Members also hand out candy and beads.

Longtime Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter greeter Arneil was with another greeter on the back of this cart.

This cart was Mickey bar themed, and the Cast Members here were handing ice cream bars out to some guests. That was a nice bonus to those who received one!

This is my second view of the parade, and I am showing some pics from that too.

Cast Members hand out candy. This is the Candy Cauldron themed cart.

I hadn’t noticed the Candy Cauldron sign on the cart until my second time watching the parade.

The different candy apple decorations here have different names, like Polka Party for the Minnie apple.

The Mickey “apple” is called Boss Man, Jack Skellington is Boo to You, etc.

Here is a look at the apples from above.

This cart was a churro themed cart.

A Cast Member has a Tonga Toast placard.

The placard is easier to see from above.

A Cast Member walks with a dog.

The cart that comes after the Tonga Toast Cast Member is Dole Whip themed, specifically it looks to be themed for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

It is easy to collect plenty of beads during the parade.

Another Cast Member walks aside the cart that includes Stitch with a Dole Whip.

The next cart celebrates beignets, which are very popular at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter.

The Cast Members here have Storybook Circus (Magic Kingdom) costumes on, and popcorn is the theme.

The cart has popcorn on it.

Pua is also on the cart.

One last look at the popcorn group.

For at least the last few years, the engineering Cast Members have created a really fun cart that also bounces. This year, it is a giant turkey leg on a cart! Last year, it was a Disney Cruise Line bus. And the year before that, they had a fun Darth Vader cart.

There is a smaller turkey leg in the front but a very large one in the back.

Here is our video of the turkey leg – we have a full video of the parade near the end of the article.

The turkey leg smokes and bounces!

This was a really fun cart, in a parade I always enjoy.

Last up is Princess Tiana being led in a horse-drawn carriage. There was a time a number of years ago when Prince Naveen would join Princess Tiana, but it’s been Princess Tiana on her own since then.

Here is our video of the entire parade!

And some guests along the route received a button that says “I love Mardi Gras & Mickey Bars”. Jeff was given one – I didn’t get a button or a Mickey bar, but had a great time for another year!
