Review: Captain America: Civil War Blu-Ray
Hi everyone!
We received the Captain America: Civil War Blu-ray with access to it digitally via Disney Movies Anywhere. The film debuted a few months ago, it’s been seen by pretty much everyone – so I won’t get into the movie too much as I will the bonus features. If you haven’t seen Captain America: Civil War, it is a high action movie. For me, it is more action than I prefer over story. But it is what is to be expected from similar Marvel films. Captain America: Civil War features Captain America/Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) on opposite sides as they have different viewpoints on how the Avengers should operate.

United We Stand, Divided We Fall – The Making Of Captain America: Civil War – Parts 1 & 2 – Between these two features, this is 40 minutes about Captain America: Civil War. These are by far the best features on the disc, with a lot of information on how the movie was created. The first part is very heavy on the characters embodied by Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark & Steve Rogers), but both features include a lot more – including stunts and interviews with actors and filmmakers. The second part is very heavy on showing several new characters. One is Paul Bettany as Vision. I found him very interesting in that he mentioned how claustrophobic his costume and makeup were, but he always would remember how lucky he was to have the part. Another new character for the films is Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), and he is explored in depth. The other new main character for the Avengers films is Spider-Man (Tom Holland), also discussed at length. We get to see filming of a big scene (and a lot of green screen through both segments). This is what bonus features should look like.
Captain America: The Road to Civil War – Just over 4 minutes long, it is about the evolution of Captain America/Steve Rogers. It includes how Steve Rogers and Tony Stark grow apart in viewpoints.
Gag Reel – At just shy of 3 minutes, I didn’t find this that amusing. A lot of of it was bleeped-out swearing. I like a good gag reel, but I’m sure there must have been funnier moments to pull from.
There are also deleted scenes, nothing that I found too fascinating, along with audio commentary that I did not watch. A trailer for the upcoming Marvel’s Captain Strange is an added bonus.
We had been invited to the Captain America: Civil War press conference earlier this year. Here are our two videos, from the two parts of the press conference.
