Elena of Avalor: Disney Junior Princess Receives Royal Walt Disney World Welcome
Hi everyone!
The Magic Kingdom welcomed Princess Elena of Avalor today to the princess fold. Cinderella and Prince Charming were on hand as what Disney dubbed a “coronation” took place (but it was more of a royal welcome). Princess Elena – Disney’s first Latina princess – arrived to the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage, carrying her royal scepter. The show Elena of Avalor just debuted on July 22nd on both Disney Junior and the Disney Channel, and it was announced today that the show was already greenlit for a second season. Keep reading for photos and videos from today at the Magic Kingdom!
The sky was perfect today for the ceremony (though it was very hot outside).
Girl Scouts led the way. There is a partnership between the Girl Scouts and the show, with a leadership guide found on the Disney Junior/Disney Channel website.
I didn’t personally have a good view of Cinderella Castle (Jeff did, and his video is below), but I did snag a spot next to a popcorn cart to photograph Princess Elena as she arrived.
There were dancers and musicians in the procession.
Cinderella and Prince Charming welcomed Princess Elena.
Here is our video of the full ceremony, including remarks & a Girl Scout “Scepter of Light” award. Princess Elena sings the song “My Time”.
The banner on Cinderella Castle welcomes Elena of Avalor.
I noticed the procession was headed down Main Street, so I made my way there as well. Banners were carried down Main Street.
Princess Elena was transported again by a horse-drawn carriage.

Here is our video of the ceremony, cropped version (just the ceremony with Cinderella and Princess Elena).

Princess Elena of Avalor will have a royal welcome each day for the time being, just the stage show portion. Check the Walt Disney World schedule for times during your visit.
