AbracadaBar Opens on the Walt Disney World BoardWalk: Photos & Video of Newest Themed Bar at WDW

The AbracadaBar at the Walt Disney World BoardWalk opened to guests yesterday afternoon. We were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when I saw a notification online that it’d be opening shortly, so we headed over to check out the newest themed bar at Walt Disney World. Nestled between Trattoria al Forno and the Flying Fish (still closed for refurbishment), the bar is on the small side, but makes a nice addition to the resort. There are no discounts taken here and we were told none were expected. The AbracadaBar is a more sedate experience than say, Trader Sam’s – it almost has the feel as if the Hollywood Tower of Terror opened a bar.  (Check out our coverage of Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar at Disney Springs and Trader Sam’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort).  There is no food served at AbracadaBar, I hope that changes sometime. This location used to be Seashore Sweets.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the backstory of the AbracadaBar is: As the story goes, this little lounge was a former stomping ground for the famous magicians, boardwalk illusionists, and lovely magician’s assistants of the Golden Age. After a show, prestidigitators would gather to “conjure” up new cocktails, swap magic tips and tricks, and stay up all night attempting to “out-charm” each other with their extraordinary illusions. According to BoardWalk lore, it was on just such an evening that every single magician in the lounge vanished into thin air, and was never seen again …

The sign outside promises “Vanishing Libations”.

There is a bar against this wall, and then tables throughout the cozy venue.

Behind the bar, it looks like Mike Wazowski’s eye.

The sign regulating alcohol sales is done in a themed motif.

AbracadaBar filled up quickly after the doors opened just before 5:30 p.m.

The “BoardWalk Bugle” on the wall provides the backstory.

There is a large curio of items against the back wall.

Most items have to do with magicians…cards, rabbits, magic books.

In this one, Walt Disney is in a photo on the left and the files below say “Bedknobs” and “Broomsticks”.

It looks like hidden Mickeys in the wheel to the right.

There is a duck toy in this one.

And an S.E.A. fez.

Apparently these portraits include a little magic every hour, but it wasn’t something noticeable to us.

The wallpaper is made for the restaurant and includes references to magic.

Here are the specialty drinks available.

I ordered The Conjurita, “A colorful margarita that never reveals its secrets”. The margarita begins with a purple color.

Our server Stacy poured the margarita into the cup below.

And then poured it into my glass, no longer purple but pink.

Here is my Conjurita. It was a nice drink, not terribly unique except for the presentation but a good choice for guests looking for something not too strong.

Jeff ordered the Pepper’s Ghost. It was too strong for me.

This is the Magic Hattan. It includes whiskey, a friend ordered it.

We were given a coaster for the AbracadaBar. This is the front and back. The back features fish, and if the coaster is spun on a string (after poking holes through it), then it looks like fish are flying out of the hat.

A popcorn based small amount of bar snacks was brought. Like…a few thimbles worth for the table (this photo makes it look larger). I wasn’t expecting anything, so it was a nice touch.

Near the restroom, this lock looks like a hidden Mickey.

This Ace of Clubs is a hidden Mickey, in the same area.

The mirror above the sink is in lights (there wasn’t anyone else in the restroom at the time).

The sign here says “To Stage”.

And the accessible sign features a rabbit in a hat.

A magician was showing a trick to a table. This was the first time I’d seen anyone showcasing magic in the two hours we were there.

Even the exit is themed.

While I don’t consider AbricadaBar a destination type bar – I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit – it should be very popular for guests on the BoardWalk and those waiting for their restaurant reservations on either side of the bar. Hopefully they’ll eventually add some small plates/appetizers, it would make the location a bigger draw for me. Of course, the location can’t be beat!
