Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2015 Kicks Off: Over 100 Photos & Video of Festive Event

We attended the first night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and are sharing over 100 photos plus video. We also have an article with 14 tips to enjoy the Party! There are a few changes this year, and rain delayed the second parade and canceled at least one show. But overall the mood was festive and we enjoyed our first Party night of the year. Jeff and I have each been attending Mickey’s Very Merry Party for 20+ years, and each year is a little different.

We posted an article last week about the Christmas decorations at the Magic Kingdom.

A Cast Member was ready for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party shortly before guests were let in at 4 p.m.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins at 7:00 p.m., but guests can arrive at 4 p.m. with Party tickets.

Tickets were still available for the Party.

This is the cover of the brochure this year, it features Mickey and Goofy.

Candy Cane Garden was not open on the day we visited last week, but it is now.

It was 47 days until Christmas. Are you ready?

Party guests can stop by the Fire Station from 4:00 p.m. for their Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom card featuring Olaf and the snowgies.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol now is displayed in the Emporium windows.

Jack Skellington began meeting Party guests at 5:00 p.m. It is a nice bonus for those who want to meet him without using up Party time.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party shirts were out for sale before and during the Party.

There are a few different styles of the same design – for adults, women, and kids.

Candy cane inflatables let guests know where hot chocolate, cookies and apple slices can be found.

We always appreciate the apple slices.

We chose our spot in front of the Christmas tree at about 6:30 p.m. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade begins at 8:15 p.m. and arrives to Town Square about 15-20 minutes after that. So we waited 2+ hours with a perfect view and kept it for Holiday Wishes.

Jeff stands under the tree. This location came in very handy when it started raining, we didn’t get wet at all while Holiday Wishes was playing.

“Celebrate the Season” was playing on the castle stage. Standing in one place for a few hours isn’t always fun, but you can’t beat the view and we made some new friends.

The first Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade will always be busier than the second unless weather is a factor. Yesterday, it was a factor for the second parade, which was delayed. There were quite a few changes for that one (and we will show those later in the article).

Elsa and Anna were first in Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade last year, along with Olaf and Kristoff.

One of my favorite segments of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is the toy soldiers.

Another favorite part of the parade is the reindeer segment.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade ends its first showing of the season.

We kept the same spot for Holiday Wishes. This isn’t my favorite spot to watch it from, with the 180 degree fireworks partially blocked. I suggest being closer to Cinderella Castle, though this gives guests a quicker exit if leaving after the fireworks end.

There is lighting on the castle that can’t be seen as well from back here, though it is still a lovely view.

And there is a moment when Cinderella Castle turns back to ice as the fireworks shoot for the final time.

It had begun raining near the end of Wishes, though we didn’t get wet. The Christmas tree makes for a great rain shelter!

Club Tinsel is “Getting Jingly With It” through the entire Party.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party lighting has new additions this year, including Santa and his reindeer.

Space Mountain has many lighting patterns, though this one stayed through the time we waited yesterday.

Snowflakes can be seen on a blue Space Mountain.

We went to “A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas!”, not knowing if it would be performed. It wasn’t, due to it still sprinkling (it never rained very hard last night, but it was steady for a while).

Even though the show wasn’t performed, Haley Comet introduced Buzz Lightyear, Mike Wazowski and Santa Stitch to the crowd.

And Haley Comet led everyone in Christmas carols, followed by snow and fireworks. It was a couple of minutes in length, but worth stopping for even though we didn’t get to see the whole show.

On the other side, it’s “Seasons Greetings”.

I didn’t know that Dancer would be meeting, it was a terrific meet and greet with a relatively short line.

I was planning to walk around the park, but decided to get a few pick-up shots from the parade. I didn’t realize it would have so many changes to it.

During the rain delayed parade, the ground was still wet and the skaters were walking.

Olaf was back on his float.

But Kristoff was walking instead of on the float.

None of the horses were back for the parade, so Anna and Elsa needed a new location.

Cinderella was not in her coach, and the mirror float wasn’t being used. All of the princesses piled into one float with Snow White.

Snow White, Princess Aurora and Cinderella joined Jasmine, Rapunzel, Ariel, Princess Tiana and Belle.

That is it for our parade coverage! I was glad to have a chance to see the second parade.

Snow was falling heavily on Main Street.

Jeff had grabbed a spot for the “Celebrate the Season” show before the parade started, and we were glad it went off as planned (though a little late due to the parade delay).

This is a fun show if you have a chance to see it, with Mickey and Minnie joining other characters. I didn’t stay for the whole show, but 5-10 minutes (I will watch it in full tomorrow).

“Celebrate the Season” originated from the “Jolly Holidays” show at Disney’s Contemporary Resort nearly 20 years ago. I always meant to see it, but never did.
