A Look at Primeval Whirl as Demolition Begins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Hi everyone!
Primeval Whirl at Disney’s Animal Kingdom officially closed over a year ago and now it is starting to be removed from Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama. We were at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on Friday and took detailed photos of the attraction since I haven’t in a long time. Some of the track is now gone as well as the Fastpass signage.
Primeval Whirl opened in 2002. I didn’t ride it too often – it was a little rough for me, but the theming on it was fun.
Guests rode in “Time Travel” vehicles.
This is our most current video of the Primeval Whirl ride experience, from 2018.
Fencing had been up around the attraction.
From the side, you can see the hitchhiking dinosaurs (similar to the Haunted Mansion hitchhiking ghosts).
“Older than dirt”. The one that said “Seconds B4 the Meteor Hits” is gone.
There is a sign back here that shows Primeval Whirl and the rest of Dinoland.
It says “Welcome to Diggs County”.
Primeval Whirl can be seen to the right.
Here is a closer look on the hitchhiking dinosaurs.
There are several dinosaurs here as well.
“Head for the Hills”.
Extinction is the general theme of the ride and it fits with the removal from the park.
A portion of the track is gone here.
We will be back at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this week and we’ll take a swing through Dinoland to see the latest progress.
