The B Resort at Downtown Disney Offers a Unique Concept and Spacious Rooms

Hi everyone!

The B Resort is the newest hotel offering at the Downtown Disney Resort area, replacing what used to be the Royal Plaza Hotel. The building received a completely makeover from top to bottom, I barely recognize it anymore! After reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews from guests who have stayed there during a test phase for groups, we reached out to the B Resort to take a tour (we have now visited twice). The B Resort is a great option for guests who want to be near the Magic. The official grand opening is later this summer, currently the resort is in soft opening mode.

It is impossible to miss the distinctive white building with the simple “B” on top. In fact, much of the decor inside is either white or blue. The B Resort is created to be a relaxing oasis just minutes from the Walt Disney World parks.

A water feature inside the front door welcomes guests to the B Resort.

The decor here is very minimal, but splashes of color have been added since our first visit. The lobby itself is almost all white, but artwork, area rugs and furniture lend vibrancy.

Guests are encouraged to “B Social”. A Tic-Tac-Toe board with chairs is part of that theme.

One of my favorite aspects of the B Resort is the Monscierge. With a quick touch of the screen, guests can check the status of flights, or local and hotel information.

We toured many rooms, and one of the features I like quite a bit is the large numbers outside.

The bedding in each spacious room is the B Signature Blissful Bed, which is from the Simmons Beautyrest Recharge World Class line. There are 394 guest rooms with various configurations, and each includes a 47′ HD LED television. IPads and gaming consoles are available upon request.

Benson B Frog welcomes guests to the room. He is a plush frog that guests can purchase or just enjoy during their stay as part of their B Humane effort. A portion of the proceeds from each Benson B Frog sold goes to the Wildlife Foundation of Florida.

Each room comes with a mini-fridge for beverages.

Each room is nicely appointed for business travellers or families, and the furnishings differ depending on the bedding configuration.

Guests above the third floor will not be able to open their doors due to safety, but there are some wonderful views to be had of Downtown Disney from many upper rooms. Here you can see Characters in Flight, Planet Hollywood and Cirque du Soleil.

The bathrooms are elegant, from the sink to the shower. And the toiletries here are from the upscale Aveda line. Aveda is headlining the spa at the B Resort, which will be called B Indulged Spa by Aveda. Adults, children and teens will be able to book treatments at the full-service spa.

Each floor has seating that is made of recycled plastic bottles.

The pool area was just days from opening,  it was quite advanced from what we’d seen a week earlier. A zero depth pool will be available to guests, along with a jacuzzi and a kid’s zone. It was hard to get a feel for it without everything yet opened. There will be private cabanas and outdoor fire pits, a poolside cafe’, tennis courts and the B Active Fitness Center.

We toured one of the family rooms with bunk beds off the pool area.

There are 118 rooms in the lanai area, which is set apart from the main building, 20 of them are king rooms with bunk beds. Half of them have patios. I don’t usually prefer guest buildings that aren’t part of the main structure, but in this case I do. The patio with a view of the pool would be a nice way to relax!

Here is a view looking over other patios.

A new magazine called B Unlimited is left in each guest room.

There is over 25,000 square feet of function space, including breakout rooms. There has already been at least one prom held here already, along with many other events.

The chandeliers are gorgeous, and we were told that each one took 5 hours to put up!

The B Resort partnered with China Grill management and Jeffrey Chodorow to create a new barbecue restaurant concept called American Q. There will be both an ala carte menu as well as an all-you-can-eat option of BBQ meats, seafoot and poultry served tableside. American Q specialties will be inspired by regions across the United States and Latin America. Guests will be able to serve themselves appetizers and a salad buffet from the bed of a ’50 cherry red Ford Pickup truck. The restaurant should be open within the next couple of weeks or so.

We sampled a few items from American Q. The candied bacon was a huge hit with everyone, a standout among the three items we tried. Everything was delicious and we look forward to the restaurant opening very soon.

The B Resort has special rates from $99 that can be booked now for arrivals into September (check out their website for all promotion details). There is a resort fee of $20 and a self parking fee of $16, but the resort is still in a moderate price range for the location. Guests can walk to Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs) within 5-10 minutes, which offers an array of dining, entertainment and shopping options. Guests with cars can also drive 5-10 minutes in many directions for restaurants like Sweet Tomatoes, Lone Star Steakhouse, Outback Steakhouse, and grocery stores that include Publix and Winn Dixie. There is a Downtown Disney shuttle that takes guests to the Walt Disney World parks every 20-30 minutes.
