Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

7/18 Fantasyland Photo Update – Gaston’s Tavern, Bonjour! Village Gifts, Castle Walls

Hi everyone!

We went yesterday to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate Disneyland's 57th birthday, and took some photos along the way. I had posted a Fantasyland update just a couple of days ago, but we found new angles to get some great photos!

There had been talk that yesterday was Splash Mountain's 20th birthday – but that will be October 2nd. The soft opening of Splash Mountain was on July 17th, 1992! Jeff has some photos – and video – that he took at the Splash Mountain media event 20 years ago. I'm hoping he'll share some of that when he has free time.

I also posted an article about the Gaylord Palms ICE! announcement today. The event featured rapper Vanilla Ice, as well as the Madagascar characters!

When we arrived to the Magic Kingdom, the sky was cloudy but we didn't realize we were just minutes from a downpour. Jeff posed in front of the Main Street trolley before it went backstage.

It rained on and off for many hours, we first got stuck inside Cinderella Castle:

We found our ponchos and headed out, eventually taking some photos of the castle walls near Pinocchio Village Haus:

The sky continued to threaten and rain:

On the Disneyland birthday, we always ride opening day Disneyland attractions (even when at the Magic Kingdom). It was harder to do that this year, since some of them are outside. We ended up on it's a small world:

Lunch was at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, where we split a Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich and a Spicy Chicken Waffle. Both were excellent!

During our last update, we had an evacuation from the People Mover. The attraction stopped again, but no evacuation – it wouldn't have been a fun one anyway, we were just a few feet from the platform:

A family in front of us were convinced that Beast's Castle was actually Rapunzel's Castle:

We rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh twice, taking photos of Bon Jour! Village Gifts and Gaston's Tavern. There are a few more photos on the next page of them as well. Check out our video here!
