Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Crossbeam Additions and Christmas Decorations 2020

Hi everyone!

We stopped by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort yesterday to purchase a few items and photographed the current crossbeam progress as well as Christmas decorations and more. It was a pretty afternoon. Here are photos from yesterday!

Crossbeams had been fully removed and now they are being added as the entrance receives a makeover. The resort is officially closed through summer 2021, though DVC villas, shops and some restaurants (and pools, etc.) are open. Also, the monorail platform is closed for the time being.

The main entrance has been closed for a couple of months or so now.

Inside, there are garland swags and the Christmas tree is up. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort tends to be a little more low-key on decorations than other deluxe resorts.

There is work being done on an elevator, as well as a wreath here.

The main Christmas tree is in its usual place.

Decorations include fish.

BouTiki can be seen beyond the tree.

My favorite decorations in the resort are usually the large wreaths around the tiki statues.

These decorations are always fun.

 

There is a display of Honolulu Cookie Company cookies in holiday tins and other containers.

These make great gifts. I picked up the gingerbread tin of cookies for myself but plan to head back for Christmas gifts soon.

This tin includes candy canes and wreaths.

We bought a few items from the SHAG Trader Sam’s collection.

‘Olu Mel and Stella Lou are on this plush hat that says “Aloha Kalikimaka”. I was asked why it said Aloha instead of Mele and I looked it up – either are proper.

There is quite a bit of ‘Olu Mel merchandise right now but also some other items with friends of Duffy, including plush keychains.

There is a Mele Kalikimaka ‘Olu Mel ornament.

Duffy, Gelatoni and ‘Olu Mel are on this shirt. While Aulani is open, Walt Disney World  is receiving some of the resort merchandise. I hope Disney will make more of it in the future and continue to sell it here. The characters are popular with many Disney fans.

Here are a couple of more Christmas tree photos before heading outside. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is still my favorite resort after growing up staying here in the 70s and 80s, and the Christmas decorations give it an extra lovely touch.

We walked to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for lunch and to see Christmas decorations. Work started in this location when we were staying at the resort a couple of weeks ago and continues.

Walls have gone up since then with signage to pardon the appearance.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is quieter than pre-pandemic but I really loved our stay a couple of weeks ago and hope to go back again soon for a couple of nights. The construction that is going on really didn’t effect our stay at all and I still plan to write up an article on the visit. I look forward to seeing the finished entrance next year!
