Disney Park and Resort Photo Updates

Stormalong Bay Refurbishment Update From February 16th, 2025

Hi everyone!

We have a Stormalong Bay refurbishment update from February 16th, 2025. Stormalong Bay is the 3-acre pool complex at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort in Walt Disney World, and the pool area is VERY popular – it includes a lazy river and sand bottom pool. Disney calls the complex a “750,000-gallon, beachside wonderland”.

Stormalong Bay closed for refurbishment in early to mid-January (our first update was January 13th) and the complex is scheduled to be closed through sometime in June. If that time frame changes, we will let you know.

Here are Stormalong Bay photos from yesterday!

A large tarp was added along a portion of the walk to the resort since my last visit. There are still plenty of areas to the see the work from.

The large pool has a sand bottom, although the sand is mostly out of the pool now.

Across the way, the shipwreck slide is behind shrubs.

While walking from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to Disney’s Beach Club Resort, sand can be seen piled up and vehicles were at a standstill (it was a Sunday and a holiday weekend). Broken pavement can be seen scooped up to the right.

Quite a bit of pavement has been removed.

The windmill can be seen in the background.

The water here has been completely drained. This was the first time I didn’t see water (except for a bit of a puddle).

There are three leisure pools open while the work goes on: the Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools.

There is still just a bit of water here.

And a bit more water here, but not much.

Here are some more Stormalong Bay photos from yesterday.

Will you be staying at Disney’s Yacht Club or Disney’s Beach Club Resort for your vacation this year?

We have received comments from a number of you hoping it will be open for your trip. I hope it opens sooner than expected, but it looks like there is a ton of work to do. We will keep you updated on the progress.

I do plan to be back next week, probably in about 10 days for my next update.

If you are looking to book a Walt Disney World vacation, we recommend our travel partner Mouse Fan Travel. They can help you decide which resort to visit, and which options for your trip may best suit your needs.
