Mother Gothel Debuts at Disneyland Paris for Halloween 2024 (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

Mother Gothel debuted yesterday at Disneyland Paris for the Halloween season as part of a soft opening for Passholders and InsidEars. We attended and have a video and photos to share of the experience.

First, here is our video. Mother Gothel is not a meet and greet character, but tells a story to guests in both English and French. We were able to secure spots up front, but most guests will not have a front row view unless the experience is very lightly attended.

The area that is being used is extremely small, not far from Chaparral Theater (which would have been a better venue). There is no covering in rain, and a curtain keeps guests outside from seeing in.

The location that Mother Gothel tells a story at is nicely themed.

She arrived for the appearance, which was quite a dramatic storytelling for about 10 minutes with a combination of French and English. Here are some photos, and I will show the location better below.

At one point, it seemed like she was offering guests to take selfies with her. Nobody did, so maybe I misunderstood that part. It really would be better to be like Disneyland Anaheim, where guests can walk past villains while they tell a story.

There is room in the front row for about 10 guests. For me, it would be hard to see if I was not in front. This is after the story time, closer to the back.

Mother Gothel leaves after her appearance.

We already posted about the Halloween photo ops here, sponsored by M&M’s. There are occasions where free M&Ms will be handed out.

There is also a booth nearby for purchasing snacks.

The Mother Gothel experience could use a re-working to make it easier for guests to see and interact with her – either by moving the experience indoors to the theater, or having it be a walk-through location like at Oogie Boogie Bash in Anaheim. The way it was for our preview isn’t optimal. It is nice to see her here at Disneyland Paris, though!

We look forward to sharing more of Disneyland Paris Halloween with you as the season kicks off today!
