3 Playful Otter Pups Born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Now Onstage

Three playful otter pups born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park are now onstage for guests to see! The trio were born in December 2024, and their names are Butternut, Biscuit and Potato. The otter pups have been bonding backstage with their parents Mae and Kevin, learning how to be otters.

Guests can find Butternut, Biscuit and Potato at Otter Grotto on Discovery Island.

Disney says about the otters, Asian small-clawed otters are the smallest otter species. They are born with their eyes closed, and it takes several weeks for them to open and before they can start swimming and eating solid food. They are reliant on their parents to teach them necessary behaviors, as they are not a species that relies too heavily on natural-born instinct. There is still much to learn about this species of otter, and we are fortunate to have these three new additions to the family!  

They are the first otter pups born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom since 2018, who can all still be found at the park.
