Photos: Big Thunder Mountain Refurbishment at Disneyland Paris From April 12, 2025

Hi everyone!

Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris has been undergoing a refurbishment since early January, with an “early summer” reopening scheduled. We have photos to share from yesterday evening!

Work lights were strung around the mountain, although we didn’t see anyone working last night.

This is the first time we’ve been back since last fall, making this our first update with photos of the work. There is scaffolding around Big Thunder Mountain.

Disneyland Paris says a lot going on during this refurbishment, including fully restoring the animal figures to their “original glory” in the Central Workshops, as well as restoring the plants.

I took some photos from Phantom Manor.

Some structures will receive new elements that are more durable after studying the wood used for the attraction.

Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris is my favorite Big Thunder! It is a highlight of each trip when it is open, although it does tend to go under for lengthy refurbishments.

Here are more photos from yesterday.

We walked around towards the front of the attraction. There are signs along the fence, as well as artwork. This sign lets guests know what they can see in Frontierland.

Close by, artwork of cowgirl Minnie Mouse on a horse pulling a stagecoach can be seen.

There are signs saying this area is being refurbished.

Mickey Mouse is also on a horse pulling a stagecoach.

Work can be seen over the fence.

Beyond the statue of Miguel (at Casa de Coco), the Big Thunder Mining Co. sign is visible.

And here is a look at the fence in Frontierland. It was a rainy evening after a beautiful day.

Will you be missing Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris?

There is no official date given yet for the attraction to reopen. We look forward to riding the attraction again later this year!
