Stormalong Bay Refurbishment Photos From January 16th, 2025
Hi everyone!
Stormalong Bay, the 3-acre water park at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort is in the midst of a lengthy closure and refurbishment, with opening scheduled for sometime in June 2025. This includes the 230-foot Shipwreck Pool and shipwreck water slide. We posted our first photos of the beginning of the refurbishment a few days back when water still filled nearly the entire complex. There has already been quite a bit more work on it since then.
Here are 24 photos from yesterday.
The shipwreck water slide is ahead, and is part of the closure. The Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools are available to guests staying at the resorts.
The other day, tables and chairs were stacked here as they were being taken away. Now the walkway into Stormalong Bay is closed off.
Sand has been removed from the bottom of Stormalong Bay.
We have never seen this much work going on at Stormalong Bay. Large piles of sand can be seen in the background. Jeff was actually here for the opening day of Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts! Michael Eisner was even there for the ceremony. We should share those photos soon as well.
Rocking chairs look out at the work.
A lot has gone on at Stormalong Bay since our last visit, when water was mostly still filled in.
Water can be seen in the pool.
There are X marks on the ground for where work is going to take place.
Signage says to “Please Pardon Our Appearance”.
The Jacuzzi tubs were empty the other day, but now are filled with bags.
The view at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is of plants. This is the only area really blocked.
Here are a few more photos of the work.
We expect to have more photos in the coming weeks!
If a pool is important to you at Walt Disney World and you plan to travel in the first half of the year, the Walt Disney World Yacht and Beach Club Resorts may not be your best option (Stormalong Bay is an important feature here for many!)
We do recommend our travel sponsor Mouse Fan Travel for booking Disney vacations. They can help you navigate your choices for resorts as well.
