Santa Stitch Now Meeting in Newly Completed Main Street Gazebo at Disneyland Paris
Hi everyone!
Santa Stitch is now meeting in the newly completed Main Street gazebo at Disneyland Paris! The gazebo is next to Casey’s Corner and has been under construction for many months. The location puts Stitch back where he used to meet. Santa Stitch is available during Disney Enchanted Christmas, which runs through January 6th, 2025.
Construction on the covered terrace is still ongoing, and should be available starting spring 2025.
Here is a photo of Stitch provided by Disneyland Paris, followed by more information on the gazebo.
It’s a new step in the weatherproofing plan of Disneyland® Paris to improve the guest experience: this Thursday, November 28, a new gazebo between Liberty Arcade and Central Plaza has been unveiled, offering an elegant and covered Character Meet ‘n’ Greet area for guests.
The objective for Walt Disney Imagineering was to keep within the Victorian time period of Main Street, U.S.A.® while improving conditions for guests and Cast Members. This new gazebo was created in collaboration with Disneyland Paris teams and external contractors, and combines an innovative steel-like resin structure – better suited to Parisian weather – which fits harmoniously with the aesthetic of the Land, and an adjustable decor that the Entertainment teams can personalise depending on what’s on in Disneyland® Park.
In addition to being a visual tribute to music gazebos that can be found in parks from the Victorian era, and stars along the roof hinting at a touch of Disney magic, this gazebo features a Victorian-style chandelier. Also the vert-de-gris colour choice is a reminder of the Statue of Liberty, which makes perfect sense considering the gazebo’s proximity to Liberty Arcade.
Stéphane Poulain, architect at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, explains: “As designers, our objective was to make our guests believe this gazebo has always been part of Main Street, U.S.A.®, and allow them to create new memories during their visit while offering a better experience when the weather is bad”.
Indeed the other benefit of this gazebo is to stay open to guests even outside of Disney Character Meet ’n’ Greet hours, so they can still take pictures in this refined decor. Imagined as a place of celebration, it could welcome all sorts of entertainment, thought up by the Entertainment teams in the future.
Meanwhile, near Casey’s Corner, the construction of the covered terrace is still underway and will provide a new sheltered area, while staying visually coherent with Main Street, U.S.A.®, as from Spring 2025. As it was for the nearby gazebo, the construction work takes place mainly at night to respect security guidelines and limit noise pollution in this much-frequented area. Soon this space will offer guests a cosy covered seating area with shades of colours in harmony with the façade of Casey’s Corner. More information about the opening soon!
