‘RUSH: A Junkanoo Celebration’ Introduces Colorful Bahamian Festival to Disney Lookout Cay Guests (Photos, Video)

‘RUSH: A Junkanoo Celebration’ at Disney Lookout Cay introduces the colorful Bahamian festival to Disney Cruise Line Guests. The 10-minute celebration also features Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck in their festive attire (created by the talented fashion designer Theodore Elyett, as are many pieces of merchandise).

Disney says of ‘RUSH: A Junkanoo Celebration’:
With the call of a conch shell, a local Junkanoo Group will sweep you and your family up in RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration at Disney Lookout Cay, introducing you to the signature festival of The Bahamas filled with colorful parades of dancing and music. You’ll have the chance to experience the joy of an authentic Junkanoo Rush Out as performers parade to the Goombay Cultural Center, where Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Donald and Daisy Duck will dance along, encouraging guests to join the vibrant celebration that brings the heartbeat of The Bahamas to life.
The Goombay Cultural Center is where the celebration takes place. Prior to this, there were cultural activities happening inside.
The host encouraged everyone to clap to a beat and to get into the spirit of Junkanoo.
Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck soon arrived.
Minnie took to the air. The characters wear Bahamian inspired costumes, and Minnie does still rock her dots!
The music playing was “This Old Man” and the characters clapped and danced along.
Dancers and a band arrived in brightly colored costumes. Guests can dance along as well, although most everyone was filming the celebration on this day.
Minnie’s dress really matches the colors of the performer in the photo.
The performers headed offstage, while the characters kept dancing.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy dance one last time before heading off.
On the preview day, ‘RUSH: A Junkanoo Celebration’ happened twice. I don’t know if that will be usual. Also, some of the characters did meet in their special costumes. Check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for the schedule.
