Disneyland Paris Shares Video of Sleeping Beauty Castle Refurbishment (Now Complete), Plus Our Photos From November
Hi everyone!
Disneyland Paris has shared a nearly 4-minute long “making of” video about the major refurbishment of Sleeping Beauty Castle (Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant). Some of the footage we’ve seen before, but it’s a nice way to wrap up the one-year renovation. We were at Disneyland Paris in mid-to-late November and the castle looks beautiful! Watch the video and I have some of my own photos below.
Tracy Heck, Disneyland Park Art Director at Walt Disney Imagineering is featured in the video and talks about how there was two years of preparation and it took almost a year to accomplish the work onsite. “It took about a very intense year”. Some towers needed to be replaced and were built in a workshop near Paris. She also said, “It was a hive of activity”. There are about 41,000 real gold leaves. Some companies only work on historical monuments and Heck says, “…so when they accepted to work with us, we realized that some of them do consider our castle as an historical monument”.
Here are some photos I took at the end of November. Sleeping Beauty Castle was almost complete (there was some work still going on in the back of the castle). I will have another article soon on the completion with more photos. These photos were taken on a bright blue day, the prettiest day of our trip.
We had a wonderful time visiting Disneyland Paris again this year (we were able to get two trips in) and to see Sleeping Beauty Castle mostly completed from its refurbishment.
We will be continuing to post much more from our Disneyland Paris trip this month!
