“Raya and the Last Dragon” Animation Experience and Sand Sculpture Coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom This Month
Hi everyone!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom park will be offering a Raya and the Last Dragon Animation Experience at Conservation Station as well as a sand sculpture this month at Discovery Island. Raya and the Last Dragon is the newest film from Walt Disney Animation Studios, releasing in theaters and with Disney+ Premier Access (an addition fee) on March 5th, 2021! Here is more information on the offerings.
The Animation Experience at Conservation Station runs each day at Conservation Station. Beginning February 22nd, guests can learn to draw new characters from Raya and the Last Dragon, including Raya’s faithful companion Tuk Tuk.
The Disney Parks Blog says that, Part-pill bug, part-pug, part-high speed off-road vehicle and all adorable, Tuk Tuk has been Raya’s best friend since she could hold him in the palm of her hand. As part of the experience, you’ll see a behind-the-scenes look at the inspiration for Tuk Tuk shared by Kelly Marie Tran (voice of Raya) and Awkwafina (voice of Sisu).
Also, at Discovery Island Stage, artists will be working on a 40-ton sand sculpture celebrating the new film. Characters in the sculpture will be Raya, Tuk Tuk, Sisu the last dragon and the Ongi. The team of two artists will put over 24 hours of work in to build and carve the display. I always enjoy the sand sculptures! Guests will be able to watch the artists as they work from February 19th – 21st, 2021 and the carving will be displayed through the end of March.
Here is a look at the official trailer for Raya and the Last Dragon.
I look forward to the sand sculpture and we will check out The Animation Experience toward the end of the month!
