Disney’s Grand Floridian Walkway and Magic Kingdom Boat Dock Update from October 28th, 2020
Hi everyone!
The project I’ve been anticipating most right now is the Grand Floridian walkway to and from the Magic Kingdom. It had looked close to finished a month or more back (before a lot more work ended up being involved), but now with the closure of the monorail platform at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort coming on November 2nd, I really think we are going to see it very soon. Plus I have some photos of the boat dock that is under construction.
A lot of workers have been on this project over the past couple of months.
There were maybe a dozen workers on the swing bridge when I passed by on the monorail.
Here is one closer photo of workers on both sides of the bridge.
I look forward to being able to walk from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom, I had 20k steps on property today and this will allow for some nice views as well.
Here is a full look at the bridge open.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is in the distance.
A week or so ago, there was still not much pavement in some sections – but now there is. It looks like a fully formed path in most areas now. A lot has been done in the past week to 10 days.
The area that looked like a staging location is much less so now.
Really, most of it looks complete now.
The first boat dock photo can be seen here.
I passed by it on the monorail and later on two boats (I went quite a few places today).
This is a view from a boat.
Monorail orange passes by.
Signage is up telling guests park rules.
A wider shot.
I haven’t been much on boats except the ferry in the past few months, but it was nice to see the view of Cinderella Castle this way again.
Here is one more look at the boat dock and I think the walkway to Disney’s Grand Floridian to the left.
There is another bridge that I’ve shown closer to the resort.
And I believe this is the start of the walkway at Disney’s Grand Floridian. I thought there was a small wall here until recently.
It will be interesting to see how everything works together and looks when open. There is still some work being done at the swing bridge and Magic Kingdom end but it doesn’t look like much anymore. I know there is a lot of interest in the walkway and I look forward to sharing it as soon as it opens. To be able to walk to all the monorail resorts will be really convenient!
