Winnie the Pooh and Joy Offer Distanced Character Fun at Epcot (Photos, Video)

Hi everyone!

Walt Disney World has been coming up with distanced character experiences in a variety of forms due to the pandemic. One of those is near the Imagination pavilion, with Joy from “Inside Out” and Winnie the Pooh playing in the grass – separately as they alternate. There isn’t a guarantee that both will be out on any given day, but they both were when we visited the park last week.

Here is our video of Joy.

Joy doesn’t meet guests, but does interact with them. There was a young child nearby who was very excited to see her, and Joy gave her a lot of attention.

There is a wide area for Joy and Winnie the Pooh to roam.

Joy is near where the Butterfly Tent was for the short-lived Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. The tent is no longer there, but what was inside – flowers and the enclosures for the cocoons – still are there. It would be nice to have this area be open air for the festival next year so butterflies can come and go. The festival this year only lasted a couple of weeks instead of the three planned months.

Joy looked like she was exercising in the grass.

Winnie the Pooh arrived after Joy left. There are no times listed for characters as to not have guests gather. Pooh holds a butterfly net to try to catch butterflies with.

Here is our video of Winnie the Pooh.

Pooh hid behind a tree.

He played a bit of peek-a-boo.

And Pooh then ran around the grass, trying to catch the butterflies. Spaceship Earth can be seen in the background.

These character interactions are cute and already a fan favorite. Normally the characters are inside for meet and greets, and this allows more guests to enjoy them (as do the cavalcades and motorcades that can be seen in the parks).

If you are looking to see if you can find Winnie the Pooh and Joy, head to the Imagination pavilion and the grassy area is close to the restrooms.

Things are very different at Walt Disney World as they are at most parks and attractions in Central Florida. While there are no fireworks, parade, official character meet and greets and such, there are still ways to enjoy characters throughout the Disney parks.
