The Holy Land Experience Shares “The Heart of Christmas” During Christmas Season Through January 4th, 2020
Hi everyone!
We were invited to The Holy Land Experience in Orlando to experience The Heart of Christmas, a stage show that runs in two parts through the holiday season. The season will end January 4th, 2020. This was our second visit to The Holy Land Experience, the first being a few months back. The Holy Land Experience is very show-centric, that is mostly what they do (small shows and the big one). On this visit, we watched the second segment of The Heart of Christmas (the second part is 70 minutes long) in the 2000-seat Church of all Nations theater. We also went to The Scriptorium, which is a must-see on a visit to The Holy Land Experience – a museum of sorts with very old scriptures and more – but the walk-through is created in a way you’d expect for a Central Florida park. Read below for more information on Christmas and a special discount offer.
The Holy Land Experience does Christmas (and everything) much differently than any other local park. The website does refer to itself as a theme park, but there aren’t rides. If you love biblical based shows, then you will find some of the best performers in the Orlando area here. And as far as Christmas – the decorations are much lighter I expected. The Christmas show was very different as well. The Heart of Christmas is a stage show that is pretty heavy in themes, well acted but it jumps around from biblical times to more current day and then to a hip-hop style segment and it ended with a very beautiful “O’ Holy Night” rendition. I would have liked to see a few more traditional songs at the end. We had to miss the living nativity, but The Holy Land Experience supplied us with photos and I posted one. The first five photos here I took during The Heart of Christmas, and it gives an idea on how the show progresses.
The Holy Land Experience says of Christmas at the Holy Land Experience: Visitors to the park will be taken on a journey through Christmas of generations past via mini-live performances, an interactive live nativity complete with animals and the theatrical Broadway-style musical production, The Heart of Christmas, which follows a pair of families from two very different times in a search for the true spirit of Christmas. The holiday season runs through Jan 4, 2020, but the park will be closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year’s. https://holylandexperience.com
While the park is different in most ways than anything else in Orlando, they did take the step to charge for parking in the past month. You can find that information here. Also notable for me are that there is no shortage of turkey legs plus there are a couple of coffee shops. And there are some festive touches to the park, I mentioned that it isn’t decorated heavily but here are a couple of photos.
The Holy Land Experience is an enjoyable few hours or more for us, again I recommend The Scriptorium – depending on how fast you go through, it is expected to be an hour experience. We had seen parts of it a few months ago so we moved a bit faster through the self guided tour. And the shows in the Church of all Nations are seasonal. If you buy an annual pass, you will see a variety of shows during the year. We saw some of David: King of Jerusalem last visit and I was really surprised by the quality of the production and that it was all live. There are screens too in the shows (including The Heart of Christmas) that are changed out depending on the actors in the show.
There is also a special limited-time offer.
Now through the end of the year, guests can experience two different seasons at The Holy Land Experience with the 2 Days, Any Day offer. When guests purchase a one-day ticket, they’ll received a second day for 50% off. The second ticket must be redeemed within 60 days of the first day visit: https://holylandexperience.com/bogo50
