Book Review: “Toy Story 4” Read-Along Storybook and CD

Hi everyone!

We received the Toy Story 4 Read-Along Storybook and CD to review. It is available to purchase now! There is a 32-page softcover book – the same size as all of the similar Read-Along books – with a CD that kids will enjoy listening to. Five of the original voices from the film are here, including Tom Hanks (Woody), Annie Potts (Bo Peep) and Tony Hale (Forky).

Usually I review the Read-Along books before the movie they are based on is out, and these books are totally spoilers if you don’t want to know the end of the story. But Toy Story 4 is in theaters now and I will assume most everyone reading this has seen it. The CD includes a narrator (Cindy Robinson), who has a nice voice for reading to kids. It is 15 minutes long and does a great job of moving through the story, including the very beginning when Bo has to leave Woody. Of course, it includes Bonnie making a new friend in class, her spork Forky. Some characters are mentioned but you will not hear their voices, including Duke Caboom.

The Toy Story 4 Read-Along Storybook and CD is geared toward kids ages 6-8, though I think 8 may be a little on the older end. 4-6 year olds who are learning to read certainly will benefit and enjoy the book. That said, I keep some of the Read-Along books for myself too (like Mickey’s Christmas Carol). The scarier parts from the movie are mentioned here but much more toned down. The book and CD set should not be scary for young kids.

The price point on Toy Story 4 Read-Along Storybook and CD is attractive for the amount of enjoyment it should give young kids.

I enjoy reviewing the books with CD and almost always recommend them. I do recommend the Toy Story 4 Read-Along Storybook and CD for fans of the Toy Story films and characters (especially Toy Story 4).
