Disney’s Hollywood Studios Turns 30 With New Logo Revealed; Parade Including Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Costumed Cast

Hi everyone!

Disney’s Hollywood Studios turned 30 today (May 1st, 2019), with a cavalcade that included Cast Members dressed in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge costumes as well as a presentation that surprised everyone with the reveal of a new logo (but not a new name for Disney’s Hollywood Studios). We have been visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios since opening year – when it was Disney-MGM Studios – and so much has changed and continues to. Here is a look from today!

Jeff had a media area for the video, and I went to where the first view of the parade would be.

Here is our video and then my pics!

Minnie and Mickey were up first, in their usual costumes.

Minnie waves to the crowd – you can see how busy it was for the cavalcade.

Next up is the Indiana Jones group, there was a stunt that is in the video as they went down Hollywood Boulevard. It had not occured to me that Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! is the longest running attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Ariel and Eric were up next.

The Toy Story Land group included the Green Army Men.

One of the Green Army Men holds hula hoops.

Jessie, Woody and Buzz were in cars that had the Pixar Luxo Ball on them (including the tires).

I had not seen Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge costumes in person yet, so this was a nice surprise for me. Jeff actually went into the land yesterday as part of a media group, and I look forward to seeing it in California in a month!

Cast Members dressed in the costumes from the land were the last group in the parade.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open August 29th, 2019 at Walt Disney World (May 31st at Disneyland).

This is one of the name tags.

Here is one last look before heading down to the presentation.

The Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge costumed Cast took their turn to march down Hollywood Boulevard.

The streets were lined with guests.

Stormtroopers, Rey and Chewbacca were part of a moment that included the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge group.

Here is one last look before moving on to the logo reveal.

This is our video of the presentation, then a few photos.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Vice President Phil Holmes spoke a little, next to him is Social Media Host Mark Daniel.

Mickey and Minnie joined them onstage, and Senior Vice President Walt Disney World Theme Parks Maribeth Bisienere was off to the left (photos in that direction were a little harder for me).

The big news is that there is a new logo.

BB-8, Mickey and Woody are inside the letters.

And here is one more video – Jeff was able to have a preview of “Wonderful World of Animation”, the new projection show on the Chinese Theater. Here is the full video!

It is remarkable to see all the changes to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and so more will be coming (including Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway next year).
