Review: New Polite Pig Menu Items Including Burnt Ends BBQ Meatballs
Hi everyone!
We were invited to The Polite Pig at Disney Springs to try out some of their new menu items. The Polite Pig is one of my favorite counter service locations at Walt Disney World, offering very unique sides to their smokey barbecue entrees. I believe it is still the only place you can find the Gideon’s Bakehouse half pound chocolate chip cookie outside of East End Market in Orlando. If you like chocolate chips, you will love the cookie! But on this trip we were trying mostly new items including the Burnt Ends BBQ Meatballs. Here is a look at our meal!
The Polite Pig is often busy, we arrived at 11:00 a.m. (this photo was taken around noon). The line almost always moves quickly, but I like to arrive early for lunch.
The first item we tried was the Burnt Ends BBQ Meatballs. This was my favorite dish of the new menu items and one of my favorites on the whole menu. The meatballs are made with house brisket and sit on a bed of cheddar grits with Layla’s sweet bbq sauce and are exceptional. I never eat grits or cheddar but somehow it worked for me as part of this dish. This is under the Sharables menu for $12, I think it would be great as an entree with the addition of a Market Side. They were tender and delicious and I can’t recommend them enough.
Here is a closer look.
The Peach Bourbon Lemonade Slushie is the seasonal slushie. It is neither too tart nor too sweet, making it a perfect refreshing drink on a hot day (with a bit of a kick).
Here is a closer look at the sandwich.
Here is a closer look at the turkey. I ate the remainder with mashed potatoes at home. If you like smoked turkey, this is a winner.
The Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Whiskey-Caramel are incredible but I don’t ever take them home for leftovers – they are best eaten in the restaurant.
The Bees Knees cocktail includes London Dry Gin, honey, and lemon. This is another nice choice for beverage, barely sweet (my preference in a drink).
The Orange Blossom Pie is a lovely citrus pie, full of orange flavor and we recommend it.
The only item we tried that I definitely wouldn’t order is the Red Velvet Cake. It’s not anything special, just a fairly standard piece of cake. There are other items that are special and I’d go with those.
Thank you to The Polite Pig for having us out! I’m already a fan of the restaurant and I am always happy to be able to review new offerings.
