Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Gran Destino Tower and Villa Del Lago Construction Update, April 2019

We stopped by Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to check out the upcoming Gran Destino Tower and Villa del Lago area that will be opening this summer – the Gran Destino Tower opens July 9th, 2019. It has been months since we’ve stopped by, and so much has changed since then! Disney calls the Gran Destino Tower the final step in reimagining Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. There has been a name change for the Lago Dorado restaurant since we’ve visited, it will now be called Three Bridges Bar & Grill. However, you’ll see below in the photos that the building is still branded Villa Del Lago as it will be the name for the entire area in the center of the lake.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has always had a huge convention center and having a building with facilities geared toward those attending has been needed. There will be a rooftop restaurant called Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood (menu here) plus rooms for group dining in the Gran Destino Tower and more space for groups to gather.

This is the Gran Destino Tower from the front of the resort. Disney says of this tower that it features a grand entrance with 3 elongated archways and a signature, ribbon-patterned design. The lobby will have rows of Moorish hanging lanterns.

Disney says that the transformation is inspired by the adventurous spirit of great Spanish explorers and historic innovative Spanish artists, writers and architects.

We walked through the current lobby and I stopped quickly in Panchito’s. The shop underwent its own transformation over many months last year and no longer is themed heavily to the Three Cabelleros.

Panchito is in statue form. The rest of the shop is more nondescript now.

The next photos will be of the tower itself. The tower will be the main entrance to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.

There are 545 guest rooms with 50 suites and a two-story lobby. This is in addition to 1800+ guest rooms at the resort already. There will be club-level rooms and benefits including The Chronos Club. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort has been an upgraded moderate resort until now, which has offered the La Vida Health Club – it is the only moderate resort to have a fitness center. Now, there will be a second one in the Gran Destino Tower.

We are walking across the bridge to Villa Del Lago, but looking back at the large tower on the way in multiple photos.

At first, it seemed like the Lago Dorado restaurant name would be Villa Del Lago. Now it is the name of the entire area within the lake complex, which Disney calls a mirage-like collection of one-story wood buildings set in the middle of Lago Dorado. The restaurant name will be called Three Bridges Bar & Grill.
