Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Mardi Gras Parade 2019 Photos & Video

Happy Mardi Gras!

For the 8th year in a row, we spent Fat Tuesday morning at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter for the Mardi Gras Parade (of pargo carts). Cast Members decorate the carts and then the procession heads from Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. This is a LOT of fun each year! For a number of years, there has been one “cart” during the parade that is a highlight – not that all the carts aren’t great, but I always know which float is from Engineering – this year it was Slinky Dog Dash and it was the final cart. Here is a look in photos and video from today – thank you so much to all the Cast Members for still entertaining guests in the rain! It was so rainy and there were many more guests than I expected.

Here is our video of the entire parade, and then photos follow. I didn’t take quite as many as usual due to the rain (more than is here, but not hundreds).

The Mardi Gras Parade started at 10:00 a.m., and arrived around a half hour later to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. I think there was a band during the Port Orleans Riverside part that wasn’t there as the parade arrived to Port Orleans French Quarter.

There is a theme every year, and 2019 was “Magical Lands”.

Even the Cast Member who twirls baton was part of it, even though she had to hold an umbrella.

Seeing Slinky Dog from a distance was fun.

This cart is themed for Mardi Gras.

This is a Skull Rock float.

Frozen.

A Cast Member holds an Olaf balloon.

This is a Tomorrowland cart, with Stitch and Space Mountain on top.

The back includes Buzz Lightyear and Woody dangling from it.

There is a Lion King theme here.

Zootopia.

This is the side of the Zootopia cart.

This cart has Aladdin and Jasmine on top and the Cast Member inside has a costume probably from the Morocco pavilion – the parade often uses other CM costumes.

The next one is an Alice in Wonderland themed cart.

The side includes the Caterpillar.

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum can be seen on the back.

This fun cart is Pirates of the Caribbean themed.

The Beauty and the Beast themed cart had Cast Members wearing Be Our Guest Restaurant costumes.

One Cast Member holds a Belle doll.

Candy is given out during the parade, I also received a bag with two donut holes inside.

Last was Slinky Dog Dash in a Toy Story Land float.

There were even Green Army Men!

Two greeters from Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter were in a cart.

And after the parade, some floats were available to look at. Slinky Dog was a fun one to check details on.

There was even the character of Forky (from Toy Story 4) on the front, which I had missed during the parade.

And yes, it had a moving tail. 🙂

Thank you again to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort and the Cast Members for still holding the parade in the rain! It was actually a lot more fun than I expected on a rainy day.
