Disney’s Grand Floridian Easter Egg Display 2017 Includes “Zootopia”, “Big Hero 6”, “Born in China” Themes
Hi everyone!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is offering up its chocolate Easter egg display for the 6th year in a row. We’ve posted about these since the beginning, and the display grows every year (in part due to some of past eggs displayed along with new ones). I didn’t photograph all of them yesterday, I mostly stuck with new eggs – the Zootopia egg is especially detailed with so many characters! There has been a discrepancy over whether the eggs would be displayed through April 19th or 29th, Disney has stated the 29th online and that makes more sense since they didn’t go up until about the 11th. But we’ll see. If you get a chance to see this display, it is worth the visit. Each egg stands 16-20 inches and weighs 9-12 pounds! The pastry team is so talented.

First up is the Disneynature Born in China display. This reminds me of the chocolate displays that have been at Disney’s Food & Wine Festival. There are small eggs within it.
Here is one of the signs for the display.
Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek is not only responsible for Disney’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House each year, but these eggs as well. His team worked several weeks on them!
It’s harder now to get a wide view of all the front eggs, especially on Easter when everyone was looking at them. There are eggs decorating much of the lobby now.
Pinocchio is one of the new eggs, with Jiminy Cricket on top.
This is an egg with The Lion King theme.
The back is as detailed as the front, which is often the case.
Simba and Nala.
Baymax is an egg this year.
Here is the back of the Baymax egg.
A hidden Mickey can be found here.
Disney’s Grand Floridian often makes exquisite animals as part of the display. A bald eagle is new this year.
Look at the work on this one! I would not be surprised to see this eventually in a display case somewhere, as some others are.
There is so much to see all over the Zootopia egg, and I look forward to photographing some of these even more closely (though I did catch a lot on this egg). Nick Wilde and other characters are on this side.
Judy Hopps is on this side of the egg.
Here is a closer look, Clawhauser is one of the characters here as is Chief Bogo.
Check out some of these small details, including Mousy’s and Targoat!
Looking a little closer, you can see more characters here.
Mr. Big.
Bellwether.
And Finnick, among others. This particular egg has so much to look for on it.
Eggs new and returning sit next to each other.
New this year is a cauldron with the Evil Queen.
There are flames at the base.
Returning is this Toy Story egg, which includes Buzz Lightyear and Woody.
Another new entry is this castle display with a slipper.
I probably will stop back at some point if the display lasts through the 29th, and would update the article with some extra photos. I always enjoy seeing what the resorts do for Easter (and Christmas!)
