Typhoon Lagoon Disney Vacation Club Neighborhood Beach Bash Experience and Review

Hi everyone!

We were invited by a friend (we will call him the DVC Doctor) to enjoy the first Typhoon Lagoon Disney Vacation Club Neighborhood Beach Bash. We have never been to Typhoon Lagoon at night and fortunately had the evening free. There are only 4 evenings through August 11th for DVC members and their guests staying on property (July 23, 28, August 4 and 11), and I believe the dates are now sold out. We found the information provided a little vague, hopefully this article will help if you are heading to one of the next nights!

My recommendation for the day of the Neighborhood Beach Bash is have dinner first, and arrive early. The refreshments being served are cookies, chips, ice cream and lemonade. We didn’t eat dinner right beforehand, and ended up splitting a small pizza we purchased (not many food venues were open).  Downtown Disney has so many wonderful restaurants, it is a good option if you are driving from your resort.

The check-in area was easy to find, with a large Membership Magic balloon. This area is on the right hand side near the entrance. We arrived just before 7:00 p.m. and were let in right away. This allowed us our choice of seating as day guests mixed with DVC guests. The event runs officially from 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

There was no line for us to check in, and we had our wristbands quickly.

Day guests and DVC members were both using attractions at this point, but the crowd wasn’t large.

We were also told that a locker would cost $2 if purchased right away, but $15 if we waited. We did not need a locker, but it is another good reason to arrive early.

DVC Beach Bash signage was put up on the stage here. This is where the Teen Beach party is every hour or so after 9:30 p.m.

The main reason to go to the Disney Vacation Club Neighborhood Beach Bash is to enjoy Typhoon Lagoon after dark. It was really nice to see the sun set in the park!

The Castaway Cay lazy river is where I measured how many guests were in the park. It did get somewhat busy during the evening, but there were always beach chairs near us and rafts left empty in the river.

Mickey and Minnie were greeting guests from 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. There always was a line when we passed by, but never that long. This was at the Shark Reef.

Snickerdoodles, Lays chips and Doritos were refilled constantly. Lemonade and ice water were nearby.  The Baked Lays went quickly and I didn’t see them again during the evening. Beverages like bottled water, soda and juice were event priced at around $6.00 (nearly the price of beer/wine).

Lilo and Stitch were out meeting guests.

They were closer to the entrance, and the line was even shorter than for Mickey and Minnie.

Jeff shows the Mickey bars that were available. The longest line we saw was for guests waiting for ice cream, but there were plenty near where we were sitting.

Near the end of the evening, the lazy river was pretty empty. The last hour of the event was a terrific time for it!

Thanks to “DVC Doctor” for inviting us as his guests! This was a fun evening. Eat first so you don’t have such limited food on an empty stomach, and arrive early for the best seats, less expensive lockers.
