Review: Minnie’s Pet Salon DVD Offers 2 Hours of Viewing Enjoyment (and Teaches a few Lessons, too!)

Hi everyone!

We received the DVD Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Pet Salon to review. Minnie’s Pet Salon features the full-length title adventure, along with 4 additional episodes from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

In the “Minnie’s Pet Salon” episode, everyone is getting ready for Pluto’s All-Star Pet Show, and Minnie opens a pet salon to help spruce up all of the pets. Minnie even has a title song that she sings, which will likely be sung by your little ones after they watch this episode! It is bouncy and memorable. Here is a short clip of it, which includes Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy.

Pets visiting Minnie’s Pet Salon include a frog, chicken, and bunny (Captain Jumps-A-Lot), and Minnie is not sure how she will get all of the animals ready in time. With a little help from her friends (including Toodles), she has all the tools and hands she needs to get ready for Pluto’s big day! Each of the friends chooses a task randomly from a jar of cards. Daisy gets to wash the pets, Goofy will walk them, and Mickey is going to train the pets how to do tricks. Only Donald seems hesitant about his task, grooming the animals and putting bows on them. But with a little coaxing from Minnie, he will help out.

You can see Donald here putting together some of the pets with Minnie Mouse. He seems to be taking very well to the job at hand!

Goofy thinks that pet walking is very easy, until his dogs start chasing after a butterfly. Each of the characters has challenges during the episode, with Toodles called on to help choose the right tool. They even lose the kittens for a bit, but everything turns out perfectly at Pluto’s All-Star Pet Show! Who wins? You will have to watch to find out.

There are 4 more episodes to watch. They are:

Daisy’s Pet Project
Pluto’s Puppy Sitting Adventure
Donald’s Ducks
Pluto Lends a Paw

As with many other Disney Junior DVD’s, this one comes with a bonus – a pet comb that says “Minnie’s Pet Salon”.

Minnie’s Pet Salon will give more than 2 hours of enjoyment to young children, teaching lessons along the way – even the difference between “wide” and narrow” when it comes to ribbon in one episode. And the DVD is interactive, with Mickey occasionally turning to the viewer and asking what they think (or if will they help out). Invariably, kids will be talking back to Mickey when this happens!

If your kids love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes, then they will enjoy Minnie’s Pet Salon. It is a lot of fun, and makes a great gift.
