Magic Kingdom Hub Progress Update; Harmony Barber Shop Renovations Now Begin February 16

Hi everyone!

We had a little bit of time before Jeff’s haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop today, so we took photos around the hub. It was nice having a blue sky, we’ve had nearly a week of mostly gray weather! The Harmony Barber Shop was supposed to be closing for renovations after February 1st, but it has been changed now to February 16th for closure.

I really like the Wishes poster with the Oswald ears – we did notice the Jingle Cruise poster was still up. There are a few small remnants of Christmas in the park, but not too much anymore.

Walt and Mickey are Partners undercover now as work in the center of the hub began a few days back.

A crane takes down the lights on Cinderella Castle. The holidays lasted so long this year!

It already feels so empty in the hub center.

The two buildings that look like Victorian bus stops are also behind walls.

I stopped in the Rose Garden for a few photos. There weren’t many roses, and I don’t know what is happening to this area.

A structure is being built behind Mickey and Minnie.

The hub construction work that started in this area nearly a year ago hasn’t changed too much in the past few weeks. The viewing area reminds us of Disney California Adventure.

The iconic sea serpent still stands.

The bypass looked really nice before the big crowds took over during Christmas week, and planting was going on the last time we walked through here (last week).

The bathrooms between the Plaza Restaurant and Tomorrowland Terrace have been closed over a week.

Here is a look at the other side of the hub. The lights in this area were working last Thursday, the ones on the other side of the hub weren’t at that time.

Here is our video of the hub work.

The back of the Watch Shop is boarded up.

We were told the renovation of the Harmony Barber Shop may not take as long as originally planned. I believe the end date was set for March 30th, but that might not be the case. The start date is 2 weeks later than the original date.

Jeff wanted to make sure to get in his haircut with Michel before the refurbishment. Guests can request a photo with this Mickey cape and large scissors and comb. It isn’t for use the whole haircut. 🙂

A drawing on the wall features the original Dapper Dans.

That is it for the Magic Kingdom today! It was mostly a haircut visit – we both go to Harmony Barber Shop for our haircuts regularly.
