Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It! Debuts at Magic Kingdom (Photos, Video)
Hi everyone!
“Move it! Shake it! Dance & Play it!” debuted at the Magic Kingdom today, just a day after the previous show (Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it!) ended. Disney kept the exclamation points, but changed the music, some of the characters and added more of an interactive element.
Move it! Shake it! Dance & Play it! moves down Main Street as it did before, around the hub and then settles in for the street party portion. I do miss “Pumpin’ up the Party”, I thought it was very catchy. The new theme song is called “Party Up!” and it is an original song. It will take longer for it to grow on me. The floats with presents have some different characters, including Phineas and Ferb. Gone are Sebastian, Lumiere, Mad Hatter, Mr. Incredible and Frozone. Many of the characters are the same.
Here is our video of Move it! Shake it! Dance & Play it!, and then the photos follow.
While the floats arrive, guests are encouraged to take “selfies”. If there was one thing I would change about the parade is the constant use of the word. I am not a big fan of selfies in general.

After the parade stops, most of the characters take to the streets (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald stay on top of the floats). Dale dances with guests.

Guests can choose a current song to dance to. The choices were “Happy” by Pharrel Williams; “Break Free” by Ariana Grande; and “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift. The crowd chose Taylor Swift by a thin margin over Pharrel Williams.
At the end of the street party, the floats move back down Main Street to a new song. Signs said “Vamos!”

The screens are new for the parade. They were used to show guest photos; song choices, and to say goodbye at the end.

Overall, guests really seemed to have a great time (as they did with the previous incarnation). While I prefer the former version, this is still a strong choice for guests looking for character interaction in a street party format.
