“Frozen” Attraction to Replace Maelstrom at Epcot; “Frozen” to Be Added to Magic Kingdom Holidays
Hi everyone!
Disney made several big announcements that will bring more Frozen to the parks. None of the announcements were a surprise, but they are official now. Epcot’s Maelstrom in Norway will be closing for a new Frozen attraction and we’ll see Frozen characters as part of the Cinderella Castle Lighting and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year.
Disney announced that the new Frozen attraction replacing Maelstrom will “take our guests to Arrendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film”. And as we’d been told earlier in the year, Anna and Elsa will be back here to greet guests. I don’t know if they will continue their run at Princess Fairytale Hall as well. We will miss Maelstrom.
Here is our video of Maelstrom from a few weeks ago.
Up until this year, Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother helped turn Cinderella Castle into “ice” for the holiday season. Now, Queen Elsa will “use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November”. The concept art shows Anna, Elsa and Olaf on the Castle stage. And at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, guests can see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade”. It hasn’t been mentioned if they will also be in the parade when it shows during the day around Christmas.

Frozen Summer Fun is also having elements extended. It seems that Wandering Oaken’s will be moving closer to the show, with a larger play area of real snow.
