Mardi Gras Parade 2014 at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Celebrates Holidays Around the Year
Hi everyone!
I am sorry it took more than a week to post these photos, it has been very busy with events like the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival and Disney’s Festival of Fantasy Parade!
Each year, we visit Disney’s Port Orleans Resort on Fat Tuesday to see the parade floats. It is a Cast Member parade, which includes Princess Tiana (this year she was by herself, she has otherwise been with Prince Naveen in previous years). Pargo carts are decorated, and it is always fun to see the creativity!
We posed with greeter Arnel, he is always a welcome sight when we visit Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort! I can count on one hand how many greeters I know by name who are (or have been) so well known across property.
There was a parade map in the lobby – the parade always starts at Port Orleans Riverside and winds it’s way down the path along the Sassagoula River, around Port Orleans French Quarter and back. You can look at our photo walks from Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter for a look at the area!
A guest walked up to us and asked if we wanted a beer. He said it was tradition in New Orleans! I don’t drink beer, but Jeff did take him up on it.
We watched the parade from two areas – one along the Sassagoula River path, the other closer to the food court.
Princess Tiana led the procession, in a horse-drawn carriage.
In addition to the photos, we have video!
The theme of the parade was “Every Day is a Holiday”.
The first holiday was Valentine’s Day. Cast Members hand out beads and candy during the parade.
Lady and the Tramp enjoy a spaghetti dinner at the back of the cart.
St. Patrick’s Day was up next.
Easter brought an unusual looking Easter Bunny, I had many comments on my Instagram and Twitter!
This was my favorite cart, Cinco De Mayo!
Next was Independence Day.
Mickey and Minnie wear patriotic headwear.
The Statue of Liberty handed out candy.
The next cart was “Happy Birthday”, and Cast Members dressed as presents.
Halloween brought out a Haunted Mansion decorated cart!
Buzz Lightyear was a Thanksgiving Day balloon:
The last float was for New Year, with a ton of Cast Member enthusiasm!
Baby New Year:

I’ve not seen this before – Disney doesn’t have many hurricane glasses anymore, so it’s fun to see that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort has one!
The Cast Members did a GREAT job with the parade! For more information on Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, visit PortOrleans.org!
