Talking Mickey Now Meeting Guests at the Magic Kingdom (Photos, Video)

Today was the official debut of “Talking Mickey” at the Magic Kingdom. We first met him at the D23 Expo back in 2011, and he’s been meeting guests sporadically in Town Square Theater in recent weeks. Clad in a new magician costume, Mickey used phrases like “oh, boy!” and “hot dog!” with guests.

The posted time for meeting Mickey was between 20 and 120 minutes while we were there today. Jeff and I waited 20 minutes twice with our Fastpasses, and then Jeff went around one more time with an extra Fastpass he had – and waited one hour! I expect Mickey to be very popular, definitely arrive early if you can. It used to be common to see 5 minute waits for Mickey, but with the princesses now at Princess Fairytale Hall, and Mickey now talking – that might not be the usual right now.

Mickey has a collection of phrases he uses, including asking if guests want to take a photo. You can see our video below from today, which was created from 3 visits with Mickey. I don’t know if I prefer Mickey talking or mute, but I do like his new outfit! And the families around us were so excited to talk with him. From what I understand, MagicBands will eventually create a more personalized experience with Mickey.

There may be times when Mickey won’t have his voice, but most of the time, Mickey should be talking at Town Square Theater!
