12/21/12 – Gasparilla Island Grill (Formerly Gasparilla Grill and Games) Gets Ready for Opening

We were at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort to see Mickey and Minnie in their holiday outfits – but we also checked the former Gasparilla Grill and Games to see if it was open yet (it was due to open a few days ago). It wasn’t, but it was clearly very close – and we have a look at the inside.

Gasparilla Grill and Games was a combination quick service location and arcade. Honestly, it was really loud with all the games, and I’m glad they are separating the dining and arcade areas. The arcade (now called Arcadia Games) was not open yet either – it doesn’t look big, but we could only see a portion of the inside area. With the cold weather we are getting right now, it will be nice to have the inside quick-service location open soon!

The quick service location will now be called Gasparilla Island Grill. The decor has a more elegant feel, IMHO, than before. There is a lot of green! The food price displays were not yet there when we walked by last night. Sodas and other beverages were stocked, as were small bags of chips.

The re-open date had been set for December 17th, but we were past that last night. Because of how much is already being stocked, I’d expect it any day! (I haven’t heard that it is open today, and it didn’t look like it’d be ready for morning).
