11/13 Celebrate the Magic! Projection Show Debuts at Magic Kingdom
Hi everyone!
The new projection show, "Celebrate the Magic!" debuted yesterday at the Magic Kingdom. According to the Disney Parks Blog, the show is "A journey to the heart of the most beloved Disney stories and characters". "Celebrate the Magic!" replaces "The Magic, The Memories and You!", which ended it's run on September 3rd, 2012. We have photos, video and a few thoughts on this new castle show.
"Celebrate the Magic!" mixes elements of "The Magic, The Memories and You!" with more vibrant colors and new music. Gone are the photos of guests on Cinderella Castle, back are a wide variety of film characters added – from films as recent as "Brave" and "Wreck-It Ralph". Those are probably my two favorite segments, although I enjoyed the tribute to Walt Disney quite a bit.
The music, for me, is not as memorable as "The Magic, The Memories and You!". There are fewer "wow" moments. I don't feel that "Celebrate the Magic" ever reaches the emotional level set by it's predecessor, I've watched it now in person and once on video, and there just isn't that musical and projection crescendo that choked me up during "The Magic, The Memories and You!" And I miss the Tangled scene, that one always got to me!
However, "Celebrate the Magic!" is a strong show, with a lot of great segments, including from the films "The Lion King", "Pinocchio" and "Brave". If you've seen "The Magic, The Memories and You!", there are sequences you'll remember – and the holiday portion is very similar to what was there last year. All of the projections are extremely vibrant and sharp.
We have the full video, but here are some photos from last night.
